A true American consulting company, Woodscolt Technology offers the benefit of it's
extensive experience with the following services: .
Production of the architectural design and documentation for your individual or enterprise
wide application. Original designs will always feature an object-oriented, hyerarchical
approach with an emphasis on object re-usibility. Most designs will be Agile driven and use
industry recognized patterns and approaches.
Project management is all about maintaing clear, controlled goals and “true” accountability for
all project participants. It is often impossible to address these issues in your company as an
“insider”. If your company has had multiple project failures in the past then at least part of
the problem may be company culture. Most people do not “set” their own broken leg. Many of the
same principles apply to “setting” a broken project development cycle.
Yes, a guarantee of sorts. Development cost insurance and or a discounted schedule for development
cost based on future product sales revenue sharing. If your project meets the proper criteria it
could qualify for development cost insurance or project management fee reimbursement if the project
fails to meet specific goals. This arrangement would, of course, be subject to terms and conditions.
Those terms and conditions are the real guarantee for project success. By tightening up project and
goal parameters to allow insurance we will essentially be creating a project with a tremendously high
probability of success. We are putting our skin in the game. Do you know of anyone else who does this?
Off-shore development is always attractive in the beginning. The cost is certainly appealing. Design your
application here, send it overseas and have it developed at 1/3 the cost, then have it shipped back
on-time and under budget! Right. If you have considered this then you have surely read about the
realities of this approach. It is not a magic solution. Consider contracting with an state-side firm
that is willing to do your work on a fixed-bid basis. At the end of the day, you get want you want,
for the price you want to pay. If there is a cost overrun the bidder pays for it. It is also imperative
that the project deliverables are clearly and specifically defined in the beginning to insure success.
We prefer to work on fixed bid contracts.
When most teams implement Agile or MSF for the first-time they implement only what is comfortable for their
infrastructure. Teams without experience in one of these frameworks are not qualified to cherry-pick
certain elements of the approach and get any sustainable benefit. “Dual monitors and daily scrums do not
an Agile team make”.
Thinking in terms of object orientation takes time. There is no “boot camp” that turns out OO designers in
a week. It takes time to transition a team to design and develop applications in true OO structure.
Having a mentor on the team or review progress from time to time will prevent a costly “throw-away”
development cycle.
Four successful, Windows based software products, designed, developed, marketed and supported, world-wide.
That is our experience.
When it is clear that a software development project is in trouble, addressing the troubled area
immediately is the only option. How it is addressed is the key. We specialize in project “rescue”.
We can analyize and pinpoint as only an “outsider” schooled in failure pattern recognition can. In
most cases it costs less to have a failure pattern analysis done that it would to have the failure
continue for another week. Address the problems early and succinctly.
